What are Sleep Affirmations? Let’s Talk About Them!
Positive Sleep affirmations can be added to your nighttime routine to calm your mind, provide your subconscious mind with guidance, and prime your body for a full night of recovery. If you’re not familiar with affirmations, they are short statements that one says out loud or reads to create positive thoughts and influence the subconscious mind.
Did you know that around 80% of our thoughts are negative? Affirmations have been proven to work to decrease this number and they have been utilized by many to create positive changes in their lives. Many people use them in the morning but they are just as effective at night!
Why Positive Sleep Affirmations?
If you have a nighttime routine you swear by, I’d add sleep affirmations into your routine immediately. Sleep is a critical and crucial part of our life – when we sleep, the body heals and repairs. I’m sure there has been a time when you had a poor night sleep and it impacted your entire day.
Poor sleep habits can cause increased sugar cravings, poor concentration, and can prolong healing from sickness. By using sleep affirmations, you are priming your body for the best night’s rest. You are allowing yourself to step into a positive mindset before your body goes into recharge mode, and essentially you are allowing yourself to rest completely.
Okay, I Want to Use Affirmations Before Bed, Now What?
Great, I love to hear it! Now, here are some tips when you’re first starting with affirmations.
- Say the affirmations in present tense and use “I am” to begin the statement. Using the present tense is very powerful and calls it to action immediately. Write them down if possible.
- Use affirmations that you believe – you need to say them with confidence and conviction. If you’re saying affirmations that you do not believe in, they will not work. Use positive language and say the affirmations that you believe in.
- Be specific when you can – if you want to get a solid nights rest, that’s awesome but if you’re clear about how many hours you want to sleep, that’s even better.
- Repeat them regularly and envision yourself in the state of your affirmations. If you want to wake up feeling amazing, envision yourself feeling amazing in the morning as you prepare for bed and say your affirmations.
